#ttbt Travel Throwback Thursday: Costa Rica

At about this time last year, I was soaking up the sun on a school field trip to Costa Rica. I know super exotic and stuff, right. Definitely. Costa Rica was the most beautiful place I've ever been. And because we went in February, it was summer there, making the warmth an even better treat from the frigid Northeast at that time of the year. I went for ten days, and the trip coordinator jam packed those ten days full of activities like snorkeling, horseback riding, zip lining, bird watching (not the most exhilarating) and hiking through the jungle and through the mountains. I was able to see all kinds of cool animals like pufferfish, starfish, poison-dart frogs, sloths, monkeys, and scarlet macaws, along with tons of others.

The first place we went to was the Irazu volcano where a giant crater was formed after it had erupted hundreds of years ago

Then we went snorkeling for the first time of three, I held a live starfish for the first time and saw some amazingly colorful fish and crabs.

We also went horseback riding to a spring and went swimming, afterward we went to a restaurant inside of an old airplane which was too cool to not go to.

The next activity that we did was kayaking to another part of the beach which was near a jungle, there we saw sloths, macaws, monkeys, and some kind of cousin to a raccoon.

When we got back from kayaking we went through the outdoor showers, which were prettier than most.

One of the last things we did was go on a boat tour through one of Costa Rica's largest and most polluted Rivers, The Tarcoles.

Those were most of what my group had done while in Costa Rica. We used the travel company World Strides which booked all of the hotels, food, travel, activities and tour guide; all of which were fantastic.

Talk to you later,

-Karin xx
