All over the Island

My group had a change of plans, in which we went into New York on Monday rather than Friday... but only for a few hours. We left the wonderful, central New Jersey area at 7 am and got to our first stop around 8:15ish.

We proceeded to get lost in Central Park, spent 5 minutes on the High line, make our way downtown to the Stonewall Inn (at least the outside), and then drive cross town to the Tenement museum (which we should have gone to last week but that didn't make my angry at all).

Here are the photos I managed to take as we ran from the Upper West Side to the Lower East Side. Most are in Central Park, one is from the LES.

Nice place to park the car in front of, right?

Tried finding John Lennon but I couldn't find him

the cutest graffiti I have ever seen

I might as well move into the city, because I'm going back in today to finish my project and again on Friday for my birthday, hopefully meeting up with some friends.

Talk to you soon,

Lower Manhattan

I promised and so I must keep said promise, even though today was pretty bad.

On Sunday, myself and my group started our 3 part US History final, in which we have to go to certain places around New York City. (I was born for this kind of project)

We started our day searching for a Buddhist Temple (no photos allowed) and the proceeded to search for the old Triangle Shirtwaist Factory, which is now owned and used by NYU. We sat for a minute in Washington Square Park trying to find Cole and Dylan Sprouse to no avail. Then we were off to the New Museum, which we would have gone to first, but it only opened at 11.
Washington Square Park

In the New Museum I got yelled at for trying to film, because I was not aware I could not do so without permission... (oops)

Some wierd things

other things

more odd things

a collection of wire furniture and etc.

Plastic hanging from the ceiling and arms coming out of the wall

"Namedropping"

My favorite piece of art

I actually thought this looked kind of nice

The Sky Room

I guess I'm not really into modern art because a lot of the stuff was kinda creepy looking and some of it looked like the drawings I did when I was six....

Anyway, then we were off to the other side of Manhattan to go to the Skyscraper Museum near Battery Park. On the way there though (a treacherous journey going down one street and then turning right) a girl in my group would constantly be like "Karin my phone says we're on the wrong street" "Karin are you sure we're going the right way?" "Are you sure we're on the right street?"

To these comments my answers were "I wanted to walk through Little Italy so we're cutting through Broadway, which we'd have to go down anyway if you look at your directions." "Your gps on your phone isn't always correct and if you give it a minute it will recalibrate and show you were are still on the same street we were on 20 minutes ago" "Yes we are on the same street considering we have not changed directions *points to street sign* see its the same street as last time you asked."

To say she frustrated me was an understatement.

But I did get these great shots of things

I have to go back to the city again on Friday for part two of this wonderful trip, but I'll be around Central Park instead.

Talk to you later,
